Airline Wars

I'm not usually one to complain, but dammit, this time I'm going to. Let me start off by saying that I'm a loyal American Airlines flyer. Being from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, you kind of have to be. However, from time to time, I like to change things up and fly someone new (especially if they have a cheaper fare). Now that I live in Chicago, United often has good fares, so I fly them from time to time. Well, after my last experience, I'm fed up and will do anything to avoid flying United ever again. I didn't realize how much I appreciated American until the last 2 times I've flown United. Here's why:

For starters, the check in process. On AA, I can walk up to a self serve kiosk at anytime and get my ticket, then I'm on my way. On United, I have to wait in a long line, just to get to a kiosk. I might as well wait in line to speak to an agent.

Secondly, the customer service. I was rejected on United from carrying on my suit case because it was "too big." This is the same suit case that I have carried on the to plane on American several times. After the rejection, they sent me to 3 more places just to check it in, and 2 of them wouldn't accept my bag and told me "too bad, you're just going to have to miss your flight." Outstanding!

Third, is the leg room, or lack of leg room I should say. On United, you can only have enough leg room in coach if you are 5'2 or shorter. For someone like me being over 6 feet tall, this is pure hell. On American, they have more leg room thoughout coach, and I can enjoy my flight, even if the jackass in front of me decides to recline in his chair.

Fourth, and most important. After all the hell I have to go through just to get on a United flight, all I want to do is relax with a nice cold Coke. But no! United only serves Pepsi. Are you kidding me! Who still serves this crap? On American, I can get a real Coke at any time.

So, when it comes down to it, United vs. American. Winner: American Airlines

4th of July in Denver

I went to Denver for the 4th this year. Hung out with my buddy Chris McCarley. Went to the Pearl Jam & Tom Petty concert, and also to Coors Field for a Rockies game.
